About Shadowpoint Weimaraners

Home
Bert McLeod with WeatherRun's Perfect Storm Shadowpoint Weimaraners was established by Bert and Marilyn McLeod in March 2002.  We are located in London, Ontario, Canada which is approximately halfway between Toronto, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan in southwestern Ontario.

Our PASSION is our WEIMARANERS

Our goal as part of our breeding program is to produce dogs with excellent temperament, exceptional hunting drive and desire, are extremely biddable and of correct "moderate" conformation.

Weimaraners came into our lives after having owned, trained and hunted with Retrievers for over 30 years. Our last retriever Ernie was an exceptional hunting companion who loved to do what he did best, hunt.  Ernie was 14 when he passed away and will always hold a special place in our hearts. After Ernie, fate would introduce us to a beautiful weim bitch “Jazz”.  It was truly love at first sight.  After much research we decided on the versatile Weimaraner breed and so came our first weim Storm.  With Bert’s retriever background, the versatile Weimaraner proved to be an excellent hunting partner.  Storm has proven his hunting skills over and over again throughout his training and testing.   Storm’s many field accomplishments include FD RD UT1 as well as, his conformation title which he finished in 5 shows with 3 Best of Breed's over Specials.  Storm’s honorable mention was running in the 2008 NAVHDA Invitational.

Since our humble beginning we have added to our family of Weimaraners.  Baron, Mattie, Venus and Sunny are all proven hunters with strong instinct, exceptional temperament and conformation from healthy Canadian, American and European bloodlines.  We are passionate about our Weimaraners and their proven abilities in the field, as well as the conformation ring.  Collectively our dogs (at home) hold over 20 field and conformation titles and are proven champions.  As you can see these numbers grow continually through our puppies who are more than proving themselves in the field and conformation ring alike!

Our Weimaraners are first and foremost our cherished companions.  They are all apart of our family and live and thrive in our home.  Each one, “all their own”, has their favorite spot in our home to which they settle nicely into each night normally after a busy day in the field either hunting or training.  This is why we only selectively breed after meticulous generational pedigree research, careful field and hunting consideration and thorough health clearances.  Our goal as part of our breeding program is to produce top field/hunting dogs with excellent temperament, high drive, extremely bidabile and of correct conformation.  We desire to produce dogs that contribute to the itegridy of the breed, do exactly what they were bred to do, and bring weimaraners back to the forefront of the hunting world.  We have worked closely with Tom Lyon of WeatherRun over the years and accredit the success of our breeding program to the years of dedication to his breeding program at WeatherRun.

All Shadowpoint Weimaraner puppies are whelped and raised in our home and flourish in a well socialized environment that includes other dogs, children, a variety of different stimuli, introduction to crate training and housetraining and of course an introduction to birds, tracking and water to name a few.  All Shadowpoint puppies are loved and cared from our home until they are ready to go to your home.  Shadowpoint Weimaraners has produced superior puppies which have gone on to reside all over North America and boast many field and conformation accomplishments of their own.  We keep in touch with many of our puppies and puppy owners and love to hear how they are as they grow.

We are also members of the North American Versatile Hunting dog Association (NAVHDA), Canadian Kennel Club, Weimaraner Association of Canada and Weimaraner Club of America.  Bert actively serves as the Ontario Grand River NAVHDA Chapter Vice President and Marilyn as a Director of Advertising and Sponsorship.  We are both seasoned hunters and nothing makes us happier than a day in the woods with our Weimaraners!
